Furcal, Braves avoid arbitration

Major League Baseball News

He signed a one-year deal worth $2.2 million, according to this story. (The first note I saw on it said that it was a two year deal, but I think this is correct.) Let’s hope he figures out what he’s doing and starts taking walks again. He made a little progress last year, but not enough.

Ex-Brave notes: Gerald Williams signed with the Marlins, where hopefully he’ll do for their offense what Rey-Rey Sanchez does for the Mets’. Marty Malloy signed a minor league deal with the Dodgers. A couple of days ago Terry Mulholland signed with the Indians; I thought he’d retired.

Why only one year? How come they didn’t lock him up?
