No link yet, but that’s the word. He’s been a disaster, even worse than I feared. I thought he might hobble on as a mediocrity putting up seemingly adequate numbers, but he couldn’t even managed that.
Update: Merv has the word. As he points out, this saves the Braves a lot of money; if they’d waited another day, they would have had to pay him his entire 2003 salary whether he made the team or not. And it clears up a 40-man roster spot. The Braves probably needed two, for Julio Franco and Darren Bragg, and together with the Spurling trade they now have it.
