That’s what they’re saying

Baseball Prospectus – The Return of Pete Rose

Let’s see if it actually happens. Bud would even let him manage a team in 2005.

I can’t believe I’m reading this. Unbelievable. “Bud Selig is the biggest idiot on the planet,” I said several of his asinine moves ago. But now, I’m running out of celestial bodies to provide contextual relief for how big an idiot he is. I mean, what’s beyond “biggest idiot in the furthest reaches of time and space, even out past that part of time and space where God lives?” Maybe all that plus one? OK….

“Bud Selig is the biggest idiot in the furthest reaches of time and space, even that part of time and space where God and all the angels live. PLUS ONE!”

Well there is a report on ESPN where Bob DuPuy (MLB’s COO) shoots down BP’s whole report. He calls it “journalistically irresponsible”. Since Will Carroll was involved with the report from BP’s end, and “journalistically irresponsible” is his middle name, I’m inclinded to believe DuPuy on this one.

Probably… but I’m guessing that BP just jumped the gun, rather than making something up. There’s been something in the works for some time.
